A modified ELM327 interface is only needed for modules on the MS-CANbus network. The Central Configuration of the Focus MK3 is stored in both the BCM (HS-CAN) and the instrument cluster (MS-CAN). The Central Configuration file of the BCM is the most important because all electronic modules of the car use this file. The cost came out to $325 which is reasonable.
